Dr. Brenna Epifano
Ph.D.
Dr. Brenna Epifano (she/her) graduated with a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Louisville and completed her APA-accredited clinical internship with the Charleston Area Medical Center in Charleston, WV in 2024. Dr. Epifano’s doctoral training included specialty experience with eating disorders, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, and sleep disorders. Her internship included continued experiences with eating disorders, as well as training in Comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), integrative primary care, and cardiac rehabilitation. Dr. Epifano’s graduate research focused on studying how self-criticism and self-compassion contribute to the high rates of psychiatric comorbidity among people with eating disorders. Her dissertation involved testing the acceptability and feasibility of a live, online mindful self-compassion course among groups of individuals with an eating disorder.
Dr. Epifano has experience in the treatment of adults and adolescents with Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder, Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID), Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, and Borderline Personality Disorder. She is trained in evidence-based treatments, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). She also enjoys integrating Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), especially for those who struggle with harsh self-criticism. Dr. Epifano strives to foster a compassionate and authentic space to process difficult thoughts and emotions in the therapy room. Her ultimate aim is to help patients address their symptoms and cultivate a life worth living.
Living in Louisville, Dr. Epifano enjoys spending time with her husband and her two beloved German Shepherds, Hera and Ajax.
