Dr. Katie Waltrip, DNP, APRN, PMHNP-BC, is a board-certified, doctorate-prepared psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner providing medication management for OCD and related conditions.
Medication does not replace exposure and response prevention, and it is not a substitute for the work of therapy. For some patients it lowers the volume enough that ERP becomes possible. She works with each patient’s therapist to decide whether medication has a role and what that role should be.
She earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice in Psychiatric Mental Health from the University of Louisville, graduating summa cum laude, after beginning her nursing career in emergency medicine following her 2013 graduation from the University of Kentucky.
Outside of work, she plays volleyball, spends time with family and friends, and cheers on the Kentucky Wildcats.
